For the past 8 seasons, the DWS has established a tradition of performing brass fanfares 15 minutes prior to curtain in the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center in Dallas, Texas. The patrons eagerly gather in the lobby to hear these fanfares, which have become an important part of the concert experience. Composers and composition students are encouraged to submit their unpublished fanfares. Fanfares should be no longer than 3 minutes and instrumentation can include minimal percussion as deemed necessary. 7 fanfares will be selected by committee and will be conducted by DWS Associate Conductor, David T. Kehler. Winning entries will receive: 1) Live performance in the Meyerson foyer prior to a DWS subscription concert during the 2008-2009 season 2) Name and fanfare title credited in the DWS printed concert program 3) Recognition from the stage during the concert 4) Name and fanfare title listed and archived on the DWS website 5) Publishing, sales and marketing !
